David Wescott Obituary


STILLWATER David W. Wescott, 63, of Hickory Lane, Saratoga Hills, died suddenly on Friday evening, Nov. 30, 2007, at Saratoga Hospital, after being stricken at home.

Born in Ballston Spa, Oct. 28, 1944, son of the late Walter and Eleanor Reckner Wescott, Dave was a 1963 graduate of South Glens Falls High School.

After graduation, he served for a brief stint with the U.S. Air Force.

A laborer with the Saratoga County Highway Department for 30 years, he retired in October 1999. He presently worked with the maintenance department of Saratoga Hills (formerly Hillside Colony).

Dave enjoyed reading, camping and riding his motorcycle, and every morning could be found visiting with friends at the Stewart¡¦s Shop in Stillwater.

Survivors include the love of his life, Mary Hutton Wescott, whom he married 25 years ago on July 25, 1982; also his daughter, Mary L. Wescott of Stillwater; brothers: Andrew of Fairbanks, Alaska, Wakely (April) and Gilbert, all of Glens Falls; his stepsiblings: John Winslow of South Glens Falls, Jane McKinney of Latham, Gail Demars of Warrensburg and Patricia Van Sleet of Luzerne, along with nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at a time to be announced at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville.

Burial with military honors at the Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.

Calling hours will take place at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Stillwater Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 584, Stillwater, NY 12170.
