Loren Gage Obituary

HADLEY Loren E. Gage Sr., age 85, went to be with his Lord on Monday morning, Dec. 3, 2007. Born on Sept. 12, 1922, in Hadley, he was the son of Seymour and Lucy (Ramsey) Gage. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Loren was employed for many years as a custodian and bus driver for the Hadley-Luzerne Central School District. He was a devoted member of the Hadley-Luzerne Wesleyan Church for over 50 years, where he served as church treasurer for over 30 years. Loren was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Sarah Eastwood Gage, who died on Aug. 28, 2003, and one son, Richard Gage. Survivors include one son, the Rev. Loren E. Gage Jr., and his wife, Carol, of Kingsbury; two daughters, the Rev. Flossie Gage Bates and her husband, Richard, of Queensbury, and Cindy Gage of Lake Luzerne; a daughter-in-law, Linda Kirby and her husband, Bill; five grandchildren: Ricky Gage and his wife, Kathy, Cammie Thompson and her husband, Rick, Angela Cooper and her husband, Jeremy, Andrea Gage and Bryan Gage Bates; six great-grandchildren:Devan and Logan Thompson, Amy Jones, Jeremy and Christopher Cary and Sarah Jane Cooper; many greatly loved nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hadley-Luzerne Wesleyan Church, Lake Luzerne. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Hadley-Luzerne Wesleyan Church with Loren's daughter, the Rev. Flossie Gage Bates, son, the Rev. Loren E. Gage Jr., and the Rev. Richard Osborne, pastor of the Hadley-Luzerne Wesleyan Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Luzerne Cemetery, Lake Luzerne where once again, Loren will be at Sarah's side. Loren's family wished to express their gratitude to the staff at Eden Park, 2nd floor for their loving care and to High Peaks Hospice for the expert care and support. Contributions in Loren's memory may be directed to the Hadley-Luzerne Wesleyan Church, P.O. Box 314, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846 or to High Peaks Hospice, 667 Bay Road, Queensbury, NY 12804. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.

How bittersweet to think of Loren finally at home with the Lord and Sarah, but apart from all the family.
