Albert Bayer Obituary

QUEENSBURY Albert E. Bayer, 77, of Queensbury Avenue, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at his home. Born Feb. 20, 1930, in Bay Shore, he was the son of the late Ernest and Agnes (Smath) Bayer. In 1976, "Albie," as he was known to his friends, and his wife, Susan moved from East Islip, Long Island to Queensbury and opened the Country Mouse, an antique and restoration shop on Queensbury Avenue. He was noted for his expertise in the restoration and refinishing of antique furniture and his willingness to share his time and talents with whoever asked for them. Albie leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Susan (Hauser) Bayer of Queensbury; his two sisters, Elsie Raynor and her husband, Ken, of Queensbury and Agnes Ceroli of Lincoln City, Ore.; and his nephew, Fred Ceroli, also of Lincoln City, Ore. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially by two of his closest companions, Emma and Nick, the Bayers' golden retrievers. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Sanford Ridge United Methodist Church, 1919 Sanford Ridge Road, Hudson Falls, with the Rev. Rodger White, pastor, officiating. There are no public calling hours scheduled. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Local Chapter of the SPCA. Sue, When I opened the paper this morning my heart sank. A picture of you 2 at the store flashed in my mind, all smiles, greeting Bear, Al teasing about something, making my day a little brighter. You have been so supportive of us and of Jesse and Ginny in their business.
So very sorry. Bear also sends his love. We are thinking of you and are here for you should you need us.
