Evelyn Freebern Obituary

Saratoga Springs Evelyn Freebern, 91, of Adirondack Estates and a former longtime resident of Holly Lane, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at the home of her son, James, in Corinth. She was born on June 5, 1916, in Amsterdam, N.Y. She was the daughter of Jerry and Sarah Bigelow. She was raised in Ballston Spa. On Dec. 2, 1938, she married William "Bill" Jesse Freebern. He died Aug. 16, 2006. Mrs. Freebern was a homemaker and was a lifelong member of the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping at Sacandaga state park. Survivors include four sons: William "Bill" Freebern Jr., of Saratoga Springs, Robert Freebern and his wife, Dorothy, of Greenfield, James Freebern and his wife, Norma, of Corinth and Thomas Freebern and his wife, Kathy, of Grangerville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Simone Funeral Home, Inc., 105 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs. Burial will be at Gansevoort Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs.
