Bernard J. McCabe

McCABE, BERNARD J., 79, - of Margate, passed away on August 25, 2008. Bernie was born in West Philadelphia and attended St. Tommy Moore High School. He was a retired businessman and former owner of Metro Distributing Company of Philadelphia, The Lido Restaurant of Atlantic City and an Atlantic City Jitney. Bernie was also an usher at Blessed Sacrament Church in Margate. He is survived by loving wife of 58 years Dolores (nee Lombardi); sons Buddy (Terry) of Northfield, Dennis (Nancy) of Northfield, and Danny (Trish) of Northfield; daughters Marianne (Tom) Decoursey of Northfield and Noreen (Ed) McKnight of Long Beach, CA; sister Nora Flynn of Havertown, PA; grandchildren Eddie, Christine, Meghan, Bernie, Mary Kate, Tommy, Michael, Danny, Jr. and Erin along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by sister, Molly McMonagle. Bernie was devoted to his family, he had many friends and his love of life for the South Jersey shore and boating will be missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 28th at 12 noon at Blessed Sacrament Church, Margate where friends may call from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
