John Robert Cone

CONE, JOHN ROBERT, (BOB), 78 - of Somers Point, passed away unexpectedly at home, Saturday, September 27, 2008. Born in Bridgeton, Bob graduated from Ocean City High School and Embry Riddle University. Bob honorably served his country in the Korean War. Bob retired from the FAA Technical Center, as branch manager after 40 years of service. Bob's passions included spending time at Smitty's Dock where he docked his boat for more than 30 years, enjoying laughter and good times with his many friends that were like his second family, at the Ocean City Airport, and his grea love, his wife, sons and grandchildren. Predeceased by his son Anthony, parents Dudley and Mary, brother Don and brother-in-law John, Bob leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, MaryAnn; son Michael and daughter-in-law Catherine of Shamong; son Steven and daughter-in-law Kelly of Dorothy; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Guy, Cara, Stevie, Gianna and Charlie; sister-in-law Rosemary and her husband Gene; three nieces, three nephews, cousins, and many close friends. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the Middleton-Stroble & Zale Funeral Home, 304 Shore Rd., Somers Point. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Somers Point, followed by his burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
