Joseph Moore Obituary



MOORE, JOSEPH, "BIG JOE", 75 - of Egg Harbor Township, was born May 16, 1933, in Atlantic city to the late Troye E. and Mary K. Moore. Joseph was raised in Atlantic City and moved to Newark, following his many years of military service in the US Army, where he worked in the Newark Post Office. Later he returned to Egg Harbor Township to live. He then worked for the Atlantic County Department of Transportation for 16 years and retired. Joe enjoyed driving his car around the area, looking at the ocean, reading his newspaper, and people watching from his favorite spot on Decatur Avenue in Pleasantville. He also enjoyed watching movies and boxing. Joe was happiest surrounded by his family. He was commanding and right to the point. He was predeceased by his brother, John A. Moore, father Troye E. Moore, sister Annis Woody, mother Mary K. Moore, sister Doris Postal, and sons, Troye and Qintin Igus. Joe is survived by his loving family: former wife, Susie B. Moore of Egg Harbor Township; his sons, Joseph "Tony" Moore of Egg Harbor City, and Joseph "Duane" Moore of Egg Harbor Township; daughter, Jocelyn L. Moore of Egg Harbor Township; grandchildren, Isheea Igus of Newark, Jarrett T. Moore of Virginia, Talmia, Maya and Mercedes Igus of Elizabeth, Jasmine N. Moore of Egg Harbor City and Brianna Kay of Connecticut; daughters-in-law, Gwendolyn Moore of Egg Harbor City, and Bernetta Igus of Elizabeth. Also left to mourn his death are nieces, Mary "Delsea" Crumble, Dorothy "Tootie" Woody; nephews, Raymond and Joseph Postal, and Richard Woody, all residing in Atlantic City; special family and friends, cousin Barbara Conyers of Philadelphia, cousins Rupert Bath and Dr. Patricia Bath, of New York, Linda Edwards of Virginia, and his buddy, Joel Clarke of Atlantic City. Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10AM Thursday, October 2, 2008, at St. Monica's Church, 108 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Atlantic City, where friends may view from 9AM. An additional viewing will be held from 5PM until 7PM on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, in the Greenidge Funeral Home, 301 Absecon Blvd., Atlantic City. Burial will be in Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor.
