My Family had the wonderful pleasure of getting to know Doris during the 3 plus years that she spent with my Father, Robert Bucknum. Doris spent a couple weeks with us in Norfolk VA every summer and all the children and grandchildren quickly started calling her Gran. My Father is in a hospice now with very little time left and his saddest moments are spent missing Doris.
We will miss her always but our memories and family album are full...

I was saddened to learn of Doris Mahalick's passing. As a young 20 year old college student back in 1980, I had the pleasure and honor of working for her as a legislative aide in her Bergen County Freeholder office.
During the three years that I worked for Doris and the many years since, I remember this public official with the most generous heart and deepest of conviction as she brought honor and grace to the residents of Bergen County. She was truly a Public Servant who defended the rights of many who could not fend for themselves.
She inspired me beyond my political career. She taught me that the people's trust was the most sacred bond one could ever receive and that politics could be an honorable and noble cause.
My deepest sympathy is extended to Eileen and Marlene and to their children.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Mahalick. She was a close friend of my family and will always be remembered. She and her late husband John were frequent guests at our house for years. And she helped our family with her connections in Bergen County. She was a good friend and neighbor. We'll miss her. My mother, Helen, and brother, Charles Jr. also send their condolences. My father, Charles Sr., passed away in August of last year. I remember they always loved to go dancing and socializing. She'll be in our prayers.
