Anthony Musarra Obituary



MUSARRA, ANTHONY JAMES, SR. 92 - of Atlantic County, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Health Center of Galloway. Tony was a proud and active member of the DAV chapter 70, Northfield, and the VFW of Absecon. He was a veteran of World War II, received the Army of Occupation World War II medal, Victory World War II medal and an Honorable Service Medal. He also received a Liberation of France medal from the French government. Mr. Musarra served in the Air Force from 1942 to 1945. A story in the Atlantic City Press in Jan. 1945 told how Mr. Musarra saved the life of a pilot and defused four bombs after the plane he was in crashed and caught fire during the Battle of the Bulge. After returning home, Tony was a bartender in Atlantic City and worked at the boardwalk hotels and later as a general contractor. He was a loving father, companion and friend to many who knew him. Anthony is survived and will be sadly missed by his sons, Anthony Musarra Jr. and Charles Musarra; his daughter, Tracy Musarra and her mother, Jacky Scott; his granddaughter, Nori Starr Musarra; his companion of ten years, Mary Endy; numerous nieces and nephews; 7 great nephews; 3 great nieces; 4 great-great nephews; and 2 great-great nieces. Family and friends will gather for his viewing on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, 525 St. Louis Ave, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215 (609) 965-0350 followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
