Rita, Rich, Dommie, Katie, Lacey ...

John was such a special person and I miss him a lot. I always looked forward to seeing John when we'd come over. He always had a warm greeting, a smile, and a special presence. I know that John is free from pain and worries now, for which I am so glad, and when I think of him, it's with the image of his gentle smile.

When I was told that John Crawford had passed away I knew only that the name sounded familiar. It was several moments before I realized that it was 'Soup', the name by which he was better known to me, who had passed away. As a teacher, I knew him from Gami. But it was the times he was in my home, with James, Mike and Brett, that allowed me to know the polite, witty, and endearing young man Soup was. As sad as this moment is, I find myself smiling with snapshot recollections of that group of goofs. They were so much fun to watch and to be with. When they'd rent a movie, no matter if it was a comedy, drama, or a high-tension thriller, they would have all of us laughing hysterically within minutes with their running commentary and editorializing. You had to be there. Beyond the hilarity there was a bond of loyalty, respect and an enormous pool of potential. Soup was a part of that bond and his presence added to it's richness.

Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts. My wish for you is to find comfort in knowing that John is at peace in the arms of his guardian angel. God bless you.

We have made a donation to the Humane Society in Soup's name.
