In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My sincerest condolences and sympathy to the Garvey Family.
Pat and I "hung out" during my freshman year at The Prep. The commonality of being shore boys sealed a friendship.
Though it been many years since I've talked to Pat, I have fond memories, especially our bus rides down Ventnor Avenue to the Margate movie theater.

To the Garvey family, I am sorry for the lost of your loved one. Patrick Garvey I will always miss you. My best wishes is toward your family to stay strong. I hope you are smiling down on us and everyone you know. Patrick even though I don't like the Eagles and I would make fun of you when they lost, I hope they make it to the Super Bowl. Sincerly Moises Martinez. To the family of Patrick Garvey, I am sorry that he is know longer with us and my heart goes out to you. He was very nice, he gave me good advice and made me have confidence in myself. I just had a death in my family and he was there for me. He will be missed here at 52 Liverpool. We will always have the coffee brewing in the morning like he would do for us when we got up. He made the best coffee. I'll miss you Mr. Patrick. Love Elaya Junne. To Patrick, I will miss drinking coffee with you and sitting on the porch having our morning smoke. I will miss watching football with you especially when the Eagles played. Thanks for teaching me the rules of football. When Moises said they would loose all the time, I was still with you routing them on. You will be sadly missed. Steven Harrelson.

To the family of Patrick, I would like to express my condolences to you for the lost of your loved one. I worked with Patrick at 52 Liverpool and he was not only an awesome co-worker but a great friend. There was not a morning that I would not call him to let him know that I was walking out the door and on my way to relieve him. He always made everyone feel like they were somebody. And he cared deeply for the one's he took care of. I will always remember his kindness, his smile and most of all his friendship. If there is anything that I can do please do not hesitate to ask. We have another guardian angel watching over us. Rest in piece Patrick, we love you.
