Chester Stenderowicz Obituary

STENDEROWICZ, CHESTER E. (Chet), 69 - of Brigantine, died on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, Atlantic City. Born in Philadelphia, PA to Angeline (Zamorski) and Chester Stenderowicz, attended Nazareth Academy Grade School and graduated from Northeast Catholic High School for boys Class of 1956 and an active member of Northeast Catholic Alumni Assoc. He married his loving wife, Mary Jane Tomkiel of Philadelphia in 1959. In 1963, he went into business for himself as owner/operator of several auto repair service stations: Fox Chase Atlantic in Fox Chase, Castor and Luzerne Atlantic in Philadelphia, Chet's Complete Auto Service Inc. at Harbison and Comly in Philadelphia, Chet's Arco on Brownsville Road in Trevose, PA and Chet's Boulevard Getty in Trevose, PA. He retired from Chet's Boulevard Getty in 1997 and moved to Brigantine. While living in Brigantine, he enjoyed working at Harrah's Casino and meeting new friends. He was the proud recipient of the "Excellence in Service" award at Harrah's Casino. Prior to moving to Brigantine, he lived in Holland, PA for 26 years where he raised his family and was a communicant of St. Bede's Parish in Holland. While living in Brigantine he was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. He was a loving, devoted husband and proud father to three sons ("his Boys"), Chester (Chuck), Daniel, and Michael, as well as a loving father-in-law to Lisa, Janet, and Carolyn. Most of all, he loved and was proud to be Granddad and D-dad to his grandchildren: Daniel Jr., Sean, Stephen, Sara, Nicholas, Lindsay, Michael Jr. Kaylee, Morgan, Matthew, and step-grandchildren Kim and Lauren. He was brother to Edward (Gerta), Irene Sobolewski (Alex), and Ronald (Kathy). He also had many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was very proud of his Polish Heritage. His hobbies included: hunting, fishing, traveling, and visiting the casinos. He was an avid Phillies and Sixer's fan. But, what he enjoyed most was being with his family. He loved visiting all his children and grandchildren. What gave him the most pleasure was seeing his family on their visits to the beach. He will be missed greatly for his beautiful smile, wonderful sense of humor, his attitude that nothing is too serious, and mostly, for always being there for everyone. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Friday, November 30, 2007 from 9:00-10:00AM from the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (Route 202 & Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, and to his Funeral Mass 11:00AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Doylestown. Interment will be at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown. Friends may call Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Rd., Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004. www.fluehr.com

Mary Jane and family, I'd like to express my deepest sympathy for your loss. Chet was a wonderful friend and co-worker. I'll never forget his smile and example of humbleness he set forth which was a positive influence on me.

Mary Jane, My heart goes out to you and your family. I am so sorry for your loss. Chet was a very good man and you two made a perfect couple. I will certainly miss both of you. You both made an impact on the people at harrah's. You take good care of yourself and keep in touch.

Very sadly I write these words to Aunt Janie, Chuckie, Danny, Michael, Lisa, Janet, Carolyn and all of the very special grandchildren:

When I think of Uncle Chet I think of a man who always had a smile on his face and a warm, greeting hug. I didn't see everyone very often, but when I did I always felt a sincere caring and Uncle Chet always asked me about my family (my mother) that was no longer a part of his - always so thoughtful.
He also always filled me in about all of his children and grandchildren. Always so proud of all of you!!
The last time I saw Uncle Chet was at my Grandmom's where he sat in her kitchen feeding my then 2 year old son, Collin icecream. He truly enjoyed visiting with us as we did with him.
I want all of you to know my thoughts are always with all of you and my heart and love goes out to all of you. I am sad that you have to have this sorrow at this time - I know how painful it is.

All my love always to so many wonderful people.

Jane and Kids,
Sorry to hear the Chet is no longer with us. I will always remember he as a very down to earth guy with a big heart. He was always a joy to talk to who always had a laugh and a smile. But onething for sure, he always talked about how much he loved his family and how lucky he was to have that. He was such a pleasure to work with at the station it was sad to see it go. May he look over your family and protect them always, but deep down he will be missed. God Bless your family always.

MaryJane...My deepest thoughts and prayers are for you as they have always been since Chet went on medical leave. He was so much fun to work with and we shared alot of laughs together on the job. We were the "old men in the front line" with the other cashiers. He always called me "Buddy" and said ...us old guys got to stick together in here ! I sincerely will miss him. Rest in peace Buddy .
