Thomas Skinner Obituary



SKINNER III, THOMAS, 75 - of Hammonton, died Monday, June 12, 2006 at Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point. Born in Hammonton, he was an area resident all his life. Tom was President of W. Skinner & Son, Inc. of Hammonton. He ran the family business that started at the turn of the 19th century, until his retirement in 1995. Tom was well recognized as the plate glass specialist and a "Master Mechanic". He was one of New Jerseys renowned stock car builders dating back to 1955. His numerous track championships with his famous six cylinder GMC Power Planet were proudly displayed with the number 659 at local tracks throughout the East Coast. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was pre-deceased by his father Thomas Skinner, Jr. and his mother Marie (nee Geppert) Skinner. Surviving is one sister Evelyn (George) Ward of York, PA, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Tom will also be sadly missed by his two closest friends Charles Santilli, Jr. and Chris Arena. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Wednesday, 7-9PM at the Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. Third Street, Hammonton, and Thursday, 9:AM at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Peach St. & Central Ave., with Burial Office at 10:00 AM. Interment Greenmount Cemetery.
