Leonard McKensie Obituary

A homegoing service to celebrate the life of Leonard E. "Black" McKensie will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Springfield Baptist Church, 1806 Exeter Mill Road, Sutherland, Va. The Rev. Curtis Mathews, pastor, eulogist.

Honorary and active pallbearers are asked to assemble at 1:30 p.m. at the church.

The family and friends will assemble at 1 p.m. at 1600 Youngs Road, Petersburg, the day of the services and may be contacted by calling (804) 863-0392.

Family members and friends are invited to pay tribute to Mr. McKensie online at www.jmwilkersonsince1874.com or view a video tribute online or at the establishment.

To say goodbye to a person so loving is truly bitter sweet. Mr. Edward is what I called him.To me he always said "Hold What You Got"! With a smile on his face. Rest Mr. Edward your race you have won.
To his family this to God will carry you through when you think you can't go on.
May the Lord forever keep you in his grace.
