Robert Sipes Obituary

Robert Edwin Sipes, 61, of Hopewell, passed away Friday, August 15, 2008, in Johnston Willis Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Gertie Mae Honaker Sipes.

Mr. Sipes was a retired operator with Hercules and a member of Grace Fellowship, Richmond, Va.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Mae Sipes; two daughters, Darlene Sipes Belcher and Cynthia Sipes Moore; his father, Charles William Sipes; two grandchildren, Christina Moore and Ashlyn Belcher; and a brother, Jerry Sipes and his wife, Cathy.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 214 N. Sixth Avenue, Hopewell, Va., where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, with the Rev. Ronald Rogers and the Rev. Barry Ashbrook officiating. Interment will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park. Memorial contributions maybe made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
