Margaret Brown Obituary

Mother Margaret M. Brown left behind the joys and pain of this world on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 when she was ushered into the presence of the Lord after completing her work for the Lord on earth.

She was born Dec. 22, 1915 in Sussex County to the late Casshious and Irena J. Marks. She was the oldest of 10 children.

She was educated in the public school system in Sussex County. For a short time she was employed with the environmental services of the Bank of Waverly and the post office.

Margaret gave her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age.

On Nov. 3, 1934 she was united in holy matrimony to the late William H. Brown Sr., who pastored the Church of All Nations, Spring Grove. From this union, two children were born, William Jr. and Margaret E. Holmes, both deceased.

Mother Brown traveled and supported her husband in the ministry and served on many auxiliaries. She loved being around the people of God. She loved singing the praises of God. After the passing of her husband of 59 years, she relocated to Baltimore, Md. to be with her family. Not long after relocating to Baltimore, she joined the Faith Church of the Lord Jesus Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Hansome Lewis Walker. She attended faithfully until her health failed. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing hymns and eating. One of her favorite foods was Popeye's Chicken. No one could say Popeye's like Mother Brown. She also enjoyed shopping with her sisters.

Mother Brown leaves an abundance of love to cherish her memories; four sisters, Irene Wood, Kathryn Orsborn, Celestine Peace and Mary Tonkins, all of Baltimore, Md.; 14 grandchildren; two devoted nieces, Sylvia Thomas and Tiera Cunningham; 17 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law, a devoted friend, Sis. Louise Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of All Nations, Spring Grove with Elder Joseph Shaw officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church on Saturday from noon until the hour of service. Relatives and friends will assemble at 1 p.m. at the residence of her grandson, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Holmes, 6181 Martin Luther King Highway, Spring Grove.

The family may be contacted by calling telephone 804-834-1088. The remains rest at Tuckers Funeral Home. Services under the direction of Tuckers Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, A.A. Tucker, funeral director.

In tears I saw you sinking,
I watched you fade away.
You suffered much in silence,
you fought so hard to stay.
You faced your task with courage.
Your spirit did not bend,
and still you kept on fighting until the very end.
God saw you getting tired.
When a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you and whispered "come to me".
So when I saw you sleeping So peaceful, free from pain.
I could not wish you back
to suffer that again.

I glimpsed a little bit of heaven,

On a warm, sunny, summer day,

As I walked along a country lane,

And saw meadows in grand array.

High above the white clouds drifted,

In a sunwashed, blue, blue sky...

Over majestic purple mountains,

This old earth to beautify.

Yellow buttercups and white daisies,

And Queen Anne's delicate white lace,

Graceful, golden, butterflies hovering,

As I searched Mother Nature's dear face.

Weeping willows gently drooping

Along a rushing, narrow stream,

In all its awesome beauty

'Twas like a resplendent dream.

I lingered there much longer,

I could scarcely take it all in:

I thank you, Holy Father,

It's like a fine-tuned violin.

Sweet bird songs drift across the meadow,

Mild breezed ripple through the trees,

Life can be so appealing,

It puts tumultuous hearts at ease.

We've all heard about the garden,

Where Adam and Eve reposed:

Could it have been lovelier than this,

Where God's love continues to be exposed?

These are valuable gifts of nature

Created by our Sovereign Lord:

I bow down in thanksgiving,

With the angels, in one accord!

Lord, I'm tired and so weary

And I must confess, a little bit blue

And I am counting on you

Lord to carry me thru

Life's storms and hard times
Often seem hard to bear

Ah, but so good to know

That you do care

Sometimes it's so hard Lord,
To feel Your presence near me

And again I find myself tossing

On life's turbulent sea

I've made so many mistakes
Lord Trying to find my way

Nothing is ever intentional

You know that to be true

And by faith I am living

And counting on You

There are decisions, difficult to make
I don¹t always know Lord

Which path I must take

I ask for your guidance

Lord, You know that I do

But sometimes Lord seems like

I can't hear from you

Grant me please Jesus,
A message from you

Help me Lord to hear your voice

Ring loudly and true

For you know Lord, as always

I'm counting on you

Down on my knees

Lord I will surely come

Yes, life hands us burdens

Often so hard to overcome

But I know Lord you're always so true

And once more sweet Jesus

I'm Counting on You

Flowers of all colors and shades

Speak emotions and memories past

And speak love that will last

Echoing friendships through the years.

Flowers speak young love

"Red and Yellow, catch a fella"

Bouquets pastel and white

Speak promises on wedding days.

Flowers speak of holiness

God places them here to bless

Arrayed in colors of rainbows

Whispering faith, Matchless Rose of Sharon.

From the blue of the heavens above

To the crimson of His precious blood

To blooms surrounded by the green growth

Blessings flow to bring joy and cheer.

Autumn spills forth pools of blossoms

Ragweed and goldenrod in brightest yellow.

Mums spill from pots with complimentary hues

Amber colors declare the Glory of God.

And so the gift of flowers

Whatever color they may be

Speak of the present and closeness

And of the past and each memory.

Thank our Lord who made such light-hearted things

Autumn flowers, falling leaves and comforts seasons bring.

Keeping us alert - giving us variety to enjoy

So many delights to anticipate, spaced through the year.

Each year perpetual gifts,

delighting us more and more

Hinting of eternal delights

our Lord has laid in store.

For Every Day, Every Year
Hope Eternal in the Heavens!!!

It was announced today that there has been, is and always will be a leader of leaders, King of Kings, Lord of Lords whose home is not in this world, but in Heaven above. He is greater than all strengths, all powers, all nations, all creation, and all the universe. He owns all of it; He made all of it; He watches over all of it continually; He listens to the cries of His people, His dear ones, not just every once in a while, not just once a year, once a week, once a day, once an hour, but every single moment of every day of all of their lives!

It was also announced that there should be no fear, for He is with us even to the ends of the earth. And, it was said that He is not only watching over everything, but is also preparing a place for all those who believe in Him. There will be no tears, fears or burdens to carry in that place, but eternal rejoicing and worship of He who died for us. God our Heavenly Father will speak to us and we will be able to see Him as He really is.

To conclude the announcement, it was said that yes, there are enemies here; and there will not be a day that something does not happen that tears at our heart strings, but the difference between we who believe, and those who do not, is that by our faith in Jesus Christ, we have the power of prayer and the eternal protection of the Heavenly Father under the blood of Jesus Christ our Lord who died for us. Thereby we shall overcome this world and the evil that is growing and thriving here. Indeed, if we could only believe every moment and not waver, we could experience obeying His directive: "Let not your heart be troubled...".

May we blow away all the evil, fears, horrible happenings and look to that manger in Bethlehem and follow that life to the Cross of Calvary and in our hearts, mind and soul grasp the peace and hope within that journey.

God bless you my friends during this wonderful time of year. Our world may be filled with more hatred and fear than at any time in our memory, but Jesus and what he did for us is the same - yesterday, today and forevermore.

Lord, please be with me,

Each hour of each day

Guide me Your way

Through life I do pray

Though man may tempt me

And peace be denied

Help me through each day

Stay right by my side

Teach me to pray

Help me to be humble

Before Your presence

Hold me, lest I stumble

Show me each road

And pathway to take

To arrive at Your

Almighty Pearly Gate

For by grace are we saved

And by saved, led home

To meet You in Heaven

When this earth you do roam

Let me be there

And stand by Your side

When others here on earth

Consider I've died

Wake up the eyes

Of loved ones, I pray

Let them see the Word

And Your lighted way

So one day in Heaven

Again we will meet

And by the feet of God

We'll each have a seat.
A CELEBRATION IN HEAVEN

I sit and think of Heaven

How wonderful it must be

The splendor and the beauty

As far as the eye can see

The angels with their harps of gold

Playing music and filling the air

With tunes of comfort, melody

And love shown beyond compare

With streets of gold and mansions high

He had promised all of this

And all our loved ones who left before

What a wonderful time of bliss

Oh, sweet Jesus there to greet us

As we enter through the gate

What a lovely time we will have then

Our union in Heaven we will celebrate.

I wonder if you'll ever know,
Just what you mean to me,
And all the many joys you've brought,
To all the family.

You taught me of our Father's love,
And how He cares for me.
Together we asked for guidance,
In things we could not see.

You told me how Christ lived and died,
For all humanity.
I gave my life to Him one day,
Like Him, I've tried to be.

You've always asked for so little,
And yet, given so much.
Each day there seems to be someone,
Whose life that you have touched.

I'm sending this so you may know,
Much love I feel for you,
I know that whether near or far,
That you do love me too.

Always Here

Sometimes it's hard to understand,
why things happen as they do.
Especially when you lose someone,
who has been a friend to you.

We know not of tomorrow,
but one thing we can be sure....
God knows your grief and sorrow,
he will help you to endure.

You'll always have the memories,
of someone who did care.
Will remember a special friendship,
and the times you two did share.

I'm always here if you need a friend.
Just know you can call on me.
I hope that when tomorrow comes,
a brighter day that you may see.

Faithful Servant

We know our special friend,
You have loved with a giving heart.
There's things we want to say to you,
As now we come to part.

You've lived your life before us,
Reflecting our Father's love.
You've done your very best,
To give messages from above.

Your sweet and gentle spirit,
Is one we won't forget.
We've seen your love for Jesus,
From the day that we first met.

A good and faithful servant,
To our Father you have been.
We bow our heads and thank Him,
For the one that He did lend.

"And we know that all things work together for good
to them that love God, to them, who are the called
according to his purpose"

Romans 8:28

A Time To Grieve

Please allow my heart to grieve,
Let me shed the needed tears.
Don't ask me to hold it within my heart,
As I've done through the years.

Let the hurt and disappointment,
Run it's appointed time.
It needs to examine itself,
Be allowed to grieve awhile.

It needs a quiet peaceful time,
With my Lord just alone.
Only He can dry the grieving tears,
For the one to Him that's known.

In His time he will stop the flow,
He will make all things right.
And all the tears within my heart,
Will be gone in a morning light.

I'm so thankful for my Lord,
And friend that comes along beside me.
I put my grief in his loving hands.
That only He can truly see.

He looks at us through eyes of love,
For that we can be sure.
And because of His precious love,
Anything we can endure.

A BUTTERFLY LIGHTS BESIDE US.
"A butterfly lights beside us, like a sunbeam...
and for a brief moment it's glory
and beauty belong to our world...
but then it flies on again, and although
we wish it could have stayed,
we are so thankful to have seen it at all."

To My Dear Family
Some things I'd like to say,
But first of all to let you know
That I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven
Where I dwell with God above,
Where there's no more tears or sadness
There is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy
Just because I'm out of sight,
Remember that I'm with you
Every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you
When my life on Earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me
And He said I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again
You were missed while you were gone,
As for your dearest family
They'll be here later on.
I need you here so badly
As part of My big plan,
There's so much that we have to do
To help our mortal man.
Then God gave me a list of things
He wished for me to do,
And foremost on that list of mine
Is to watch and care for you.
And I will be beside you
Every day and week and year,
And when you're sad I'm standing there
To wipe away the tear.
And when you lie in bed at night
The days chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you
In the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on Earth
And all those loving years,
Because you're only human
They are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry
It does relieve the pain,
Remember there would be no flowers
Unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you
Of all that God has planned,
But if I were to tell you
You wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain
Though my life on Earth is o're,
I am closer to you now
Than I ever was before.
And to my very many friends
Trust God knows what is best,
I'm still not far away from you
I'm just beyond the crest.
There are rocky roads ahead of you
And many hills to climb,
But together we can do it
Taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy
And I'd like it for you, too,
That as you give unto the world
So the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody
Who is in sorrow or in pain,
Then you can say to God at night
My day was not in vain.
And now I am contented
That my life it was worthwhile,
Knowing as I passed along the way
I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody
Who is down and feeling low,
Just lend a hand to pick him up
As on your way you go.
When you are walking down the street
And you've got me on your mind,
I'm walking in your footsteps
Only half a step behind.
And when you feel the gentle breeze
Or the wind upon your face,
That's me giving you a great big hug
Or just a soft embrace.
And when it's time for you to go
From that body to be free,
Remember you're not going
You are coming here to me.
And I will always love you
From that land way up above,
Will be in touch again soon
P.S. God sends his love.

God Called Her Home

God called her and she heard Him
Come rest with Me My child
There'll be no pain or suffering
No tears, just glorious smiles.

You'll walk on streets of glory
Beside green pastures lay
Or sit beside still waters
In the eve of the day.

You can sing with the angels
A chorus pure and sweet
As Jesus watches over you
Sit and worship at His feet.

So please don't worry mommy
She’ll be waiting patiently
Tell daddy, sister, brother
Her face, some day they’ll see.

Let the peace of God surround you
Keep you safely in His love
And remember that she's waiting
In a mansion up above.
