Rosetta Lewis Obituary

Mrs. Rosetta V. Lewis, of 114 Culpeper Ave., Petersburg, Va., departed this life Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

She was born July 31, 1921, in Dinwiddie County, Va., to the late Henry Wyatt and Etta Judd Wyatt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lewis; daughter, Geraldine W. Hayes; brothers, Velmont Wyatt, Henry Wyatt, Bernard Wyatt; sisters, Irene Brown, Estelle Harrison and Dorothy Mason.

At an early age she accepted Christ. She was a faithful member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg, Va., until her declining health. She retired from Virginia Linen, Petersburg, Va.

She leaves to cherish her memory three grandchildren, Carolyn Taylor (Ernest) and Micheal Hayes of Petersburg, Va., and James Hayes Jr. (Felicia) of Prince George, Va.; four great-grandchildren, Maketta Stokes (Lloyd), Coco Cunningham, Whitney Hayes and Makesse Taylor; three great-great-grandchildren, Ciara and K'Juan Wyatt, and Ra-quan Brockingthon; one sister-in-law, Zemora Wyatt of Rochelle, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, one devoted, Rose Greene (Lewis), and a host of nephews, cousins and many devoted friends; and caregivers, Jimmies Barlow, LaTasha Greene, Katrina Brown and Gail Sykes.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Harvest International Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1017 W. Washington St., Petersburg, with Bishop Mary P. Bonner, pastor, officiating. The eulogy will be given by Dr. Wesley K. McLaughin, pastor, Mount Olivet Baptist Church. Internment will be in Dinwiddie Memorial Park.

The remains will lie in repose at the church on Saturday from 10:45 a.m. until the hour of service. Relatives and friends will assemble at 114 Culpeper Ave. at 11 a.m.
