Alexander Stringfield Obituary

Mr. Alexander Stringfield, 66, departed this life Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at the Waverly Healthcare Center.

He was born Dec. 15, 1941 to the late Joseph Stringfield Sr. and Ellen Brown Stringfield.

Alexander was educated in the Surry County Public School System. He was employed at the College of William & Mary and the Wakefield Peanut Company before retiring early due to failing health. He joined Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age and later became a member of the Wakefield Christian Outreach Center.

Alexander was preceded in death by four brothers, Stanley, Joseph Jr., Robert Lee, and George W.; and one sister, Essie Mae.

He leaves to cherish his memory, one sister, Catherine Stringfield Taylor of Chesterfield; one sister-in-law, Gladys Stringfield of Wakefield; a devoted friend, Laverne Perry of Waverly; one daughter, Cassandra Gray of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alexander will be sorely missed.

A funeral service will be at noon, Tuesday, Dec. 16, at The Wakefield Christian Outreach Center, with the Rev. Charles Cypress, officiating. Interment will be in Booker T. Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church the day of the service. The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 15, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Peace-Bland Funeral Home, 237 Railroad Ave., Waverly.
