Kim, Mitch, Terry, Debra, Lorraine, Cheryl, Vanessa, Clyde, Randy and Sam:
When Cheryl called me and said Katie had passed, I could not cry, I grieved for the family but I knew she was in a better place. When I saw her lying there smiling at me, I thought she has seen the face of Jesus. Such calm and peace I hope to see one day, no more crying, no more pain. I will always be there for each and every one of you, because I know that is what Katie would have wanted. No matter the hour call me, just to vent, to share in your sorrow, your joys and hopes and dreams. I could never measure up to Katie I was the head strong one, she would say “Wait, wait, wait Brenda and then rationalize out whatever I was going to jump into head first. She was a logical, intelligent and caring human being that I am so grateful to God that he allowed me to share in her life for thirty years. Stay strong and know that you are always in my thought and prayers.
Peace and much love,
Brenda Hughes

Kim, Mitch, Cheryl, Deborah Lorraine, Vanessa Clyde, Randy, and Sam; my heart is filled with sadness at your loss of Katie. I can not imagine the pain you feel now but I wanted to let you know that my loving thoughts are with you. I can only say how much I will miss Katie as well. No words can express how much a part of my life Katie was, and will always be. Katie was a jewel among us, always giving us a shining example of kindness, caring, loving, and fun. Katie was more than my former co-worker, she was my genuine friend. Although distance and time took us in different directions through life, she was always close to me. Even though the time I spent with Katie was all too infrequent, when we were together our bonds were reinforced by the simplest of activities. She made me welcome no matter what was transpiring in her life and no matter how busy she may have been at any given time. Indeed she made me a better man!! God gave us a true woman that remains with us through the rest of our lives, so close yet not with us in body any longer.

Aunt Katie,
You were my mother's big sister, therefor my second mother. I loved you so much. You were there for my birth, my pre-school graduation, elementary graduation, band concerts, plays, pageants, high school graduation, encouraged me to go to college, there for the birth of my child, provided a home for us, loved, nurtured and supported us. You were always there to cheer your loved ones on. The best thing about you is regardless of how you felt and what the circumstance was, there was a humble smile gracing your loving face. You mean the world to me. Although I ache to know you're gone, I find peace at knowing that you're no longer suffering. You were an angel here and will be a great angel in heaven, your new home. You'll be greatly missed by all of the lives that you touched.
Love your niece,
