Arthur Robinson Obituary

Mr. Arthur Alexander Robinson III, 56, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 surrounded by family.

Mr. Robinson was born on Aug. 11, 1952 in New Orleans, La. to his loving parents, Marion Robinson Batts and Arthur Alexander Robinson Jr.

He was a charismatic man with a gorgeous smile. He could make you laugh with his stories and dance moves. He was a poet, artist, and avid reader, but above all, he was a servant of the Lord. As a young man, he served in the U.S. Air Force. Later, he received an Associates Degree in Nursing from John Tyler Community College. He worked as a dedicated nurse and nurse supervisor for over 30 years for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Along with his parents, he is survived by his loving, devoted, wife of 29 years, Pierre Bonner Robinson.

He is also survived by two sons, Kenni Robinson of Chester, Va. and Bryan Robinson (Krista) of Phoenix, Ariz.; four daughters, Nicole Stewart of Colonial Heights, Va., Tamara Robinson and Apryll Robinson, both of Chesterfield, Va. and Brandis Robinson Gordon (Lutrell) of Petersburg, Va.; five grandchildren, Robert Robinson, Gregory Peterson Jr., Tityana Robinson, Christian Robinson and Taylor Gordon; nine siblings, Adrienne Batts of Ettrick, Va., Angelique Walton (Mical) of Rocky Mount, N.C., Anthony Robinson (Juanita) of Jacksonville, N.C., Marian Batts-Turner of Baltimore, Md., Angela Robinson Miller (Kenneth) of Little Rock, Ark., Andre Robinson of Little Rock, Alicia Robinson Morgan (Toney), of Washington, D.C., Alaric Robinson of Maple Hill, N.C., Angel Robinson of Las Vegas, Nev. and Allison Robinson Stephens of Las Vegas; three step-brothers, Walter Batts (Vonda) of Mitchellville, Md., Douglas Batts of Petersburg, and Rogers Batts of Petersburg. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, many relatives and friends, including devoted friends, William B. King Jr. of King William, Va., Nnaemeka Chima of Baltimore, Md. and Dr. Zelda West Johnson of Petersburg.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 at the Richmond Christian Center Evangelistic Ministry, 214 Cowardin Ave., Richmond, Va., with Pastor Steve Parson officiating. Entombment will follow at the Southlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum.

The family will receive family and friends at the residence of his mother, 920 Prince Ave., Petersburg, (804) 732-0193 or at the residence of his daughter, 3301 Denise Road, Petersburg, (804) 732-3409.

At the family's request, there will be no public viewing.

Mr. Robinson requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to The Richmond Christian Center Evangelistic Ministry at Emmanuel Worship Center, 236 Grove Ave., Petersburg, VA 23803.
