Millard Doyle Obituary

Millard Douglas Doyle, age 72, of McKenney, Va., died on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009.

He was born on July 8, 1936, to Millard Earl and Margaret Douglas Doyle in McKenney, Va. He was a Navy Korean War veteran and longtime farmer.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Brenda Hamby Doyle of McKenney; children, Linda Faye Doyle and Angela D. Poole (Donald) both of DeWitt, Jason D. Doyle (Amy) of Matoaca, Va. and Ryan L. Hamby of McKenney; grandchildren Conrad L. Russell, II, Timothy W. Doyle, Roy D. Poole III, Trevor E. Cliborne, Sierra N. Poole of DeWitt, Autumn D. Doyle and Hunter D. Doyle of Matoaca, Va.; brother Charles W. Doyle of Orange City, Fla.; sister Maxine D. Wilkinson of Midlothian; aunt, Caroline D. Saunders of Lynchburg, Va. and numerous cousins, a niece and a nephew; special friend, Peggy Jean McClelland of McKenney, Va.

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday at Asbury United Methodist Church with burial in Asbury Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence (20722 Third Street in McKenney, Va.) on Sunday, Jan. 25, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Asbury Cemetery Fund or to the Crater Community Hospice.

The family would like to thank Drs. Patrick and Ellen Mitchell and Crater Community Hospice.

My prayers and condolences are with the family. Rachel; just as mine was for you, the farm was sometimes a peaceful sanctuary. I will always remember wading the creeks, the nights all were awakened 'cause "the cows got out again!", and watching that first calf being delivered! Thank you and your "dad" for fond memories that forged a lifelong friendship.

I was sorry to hear of the passing of an old famly friend. He was always most kind to my father, Herman Fitzgerald when he lived at the home place in Mckenny. They were the best of friends and he was a good neighbor.
