Eliza Bates Obituary

Mrs. Eliza Bates of 843 Young's Avenue, Petersburg, Va. departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

She was born on Dec. 21, 1948. She was employed at Walnut Hill Convalescent Center, Petersburg, Va., and Petersburg Social Services.

Eliza is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Clanton (Henry); one son, Tony Bates; one devoted sister, Arlene Rose; two brothers, Charles Bates of Dinwiddie, Va. and Allen Bates of Baltimore, Md.; two aunts, Evelyn Taylor of Washington, D.C. and Helen Bell of Berryville, Va.; two granddaughters, Angela and Arlene Bates; two grandsons, Willie and James Bates; five great grandchildren, Tashayla Bates, Tyekwon Bates-Parker, ZeyQuan Chavis, ZeyVion Chavis and Zeyshawn Chavis; one devoted niece, Clara Bates; three nephews, Harold Bates, Sr., Harold Bates Jr. and Sherman Brown; one brother-in-law, Richard Clarke; a host of friends.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at Harvest International Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1017 W. Washington Street, Petersburg, Va., Bishop Mary P. Bonner, pastor, officiating. The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
