Marilyn Washburn Obituary

Mrs. Marilyn Mae Washburn, 76, of Disputanta, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at Henrico Doctors Hospital.

She was born in Port Huron, Mich. Mrs. Washburn was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Lois Lietz Traver, and her husband, Donald E. Washburn. She served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict, was a member of VFW Petersburg Post #622 and Wesley United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights, serving on various church committees.

She is survived by a son, David Michael Washburn of Disputanta; two daughters, Deborah Washburn of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Linda Connor of Saline, Mich.; a brother, Robert Traver of Port Huron, Mich.; and three sisters, Patricia Motica of Ypsilanti, Mich., Susan Barney of Saline, Mich., and Sandra Kilpatrick of Malden, Mass.

A funeral service, conducted by the Rev. Al Thorne, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church of Colonial Heights, will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009, in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
