I worked with Chilly for many years at LMW, and we could always find something to laugh about. A philosopher the obit said! Yes he was. A great story teller with the widest grin in Roanoke. He gave me a kitten once to give to my wife for her birthday. I wanted to name it Chilly but her vote was for Otis and that stuck. We still have him. God bless all his family and friends. Goodbye Chilly.

I can't say enough good things about my friend. Chily was a very special person and I'm going to miss him dearly.

When we worked together at LMW, he was always willing to listen and offer advice and he told some of the funniest and most memorable stories I've ever heard. Even after I left the company and his hours got cut, he would look me up wherever I was and even had a bus driver stop a Valley Metro bus just so he could say hi to me when I was walking down the street! No one would have done that but Chilly; he was that kind of person.

May God bless and keep your family in this time of sorrow. Even as you mourn the loss of your loved one, trust that he was loved by many and appreciated by all.

My Cousin Chilly was one cousin that you could always depend on whether times was good or bad he always had a answer for you. To think that he is with his parents and uncles lets me know that he wont be alone. I know it is hard for all of us now. But with time it will be easier. We all loved him and wil always remember him No matter where his body is. He is in all our hearts. We will never forget you and I love you always. Your cousin.

To The Childress Family
Uncle Robert will be deeply missed. I don't know how to share what I am feeling right now, all I know is that I missed out on an opportunity to speak with him before his final surgery and me being the hard headed "know-it-all" that you all know me to be I thought that I had "one more day" to get to the hospital to see him. Boy was I wrong. When God says that tomorrow is not promised, boy did He mean it!! I am, however, glad that I got to be there with him on his last days here on earth, you know right before he got to go see Grandaddy Ike and Grandma Julia Mae. That experience alone, is enough to last me a life time. He was a great man and my "first" favorite uncle (the next favorite is Uncle Wayne then Timmy) and I am going to deeply miss him. Aunt Pat, I am hoping that just because Uncle Robert is gone that you will consider staying here in Roanoke, or at least staying in touch with the family. You were a big part of his life and I love you just as much as I loved him. I am trying really hard not to cry because I miss him soooooo much right now, but I am too fabulous to cry! (Boy would Uncle Robert have loved to have heard that one...lol) Even though he passed on Friday the 13th, I will remember that day as the day I got to share a once-in-a-lifetime experience with my favorite baby cousin Sonja, my favorite Aunt Rosa, Aunt Bay Sis, and of course, last but not least, my favorite Uncle Wayne....and oh yeah, Aunt Wee Wee actually called me to tell me she loved me after the big Florida Vacation From Hell Blow Out back in 2005, which left us virtually dead to one another. I guess I can actually say something good came out of Uncle Robert's death. I love each and every one of you; all my remaining Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nephews, Neices, dogs, cats and abandoned homes! lol (There are actually too many of you to name and I don't want to forget anyone. You know how yall get if I forget one of yalls names; you would hunt me down and beat me to the white meat because you would think that I did it on purpose. LOL!) I guess you can see that I got my sense of humor from my Uncle Robert, so his personality will live on through me..HA HA. See you guys at the family (funeral) reunion on Saturday. God Bless "Chuck"
