Dear family of John Starrett,
My sincere sympathy on the loss of Colonel John. I always enjoyed listening to the fascinating stories about his miltiary career and the many places it took him to - he was especially fond of Germany. We also had many discussions about conservation and he had a deep appreciation our natural heritage. He was an intelligent and generous gentleman and will be missed by all his friends and neighbors in Oscoda.

Dear Eileen, I am sorry for the loss of your grandfather. I enjoyed a recent visit with him here in Traverse City where he raved about how beautiful and kind he found your mother! He had pictures of you in his room and asked to hear the story of how we knew each other several times. Then, he would look at me and say "well, we're practically family!" He was aware of your success, great friendship and love of your mother and was a very proud grandfather!
Susan, I will always cherish the "high note" of that last visit with you and your dad before his passing. Hold on to his heartfelt words.
Love, Dana
