Shalonda Degroat Obituary
Shalonda "LaLa" Degroat, 18, of Newburgh, NY, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus, Newburgh.
The daughter of Willie Connor and Valancey Degroat, she was born October 3, 1989 in Newburgh, NY. She was a student who attended the Newburgh School District.
She is survived by loving parents: mother, Valancey Degroat and father, Willie Connor; stepmother, Serena Connor; five brothers, Jamar Degroat, De'Andre Connor and James McDaniel all of Newburgh, John Degroat of Pittsburgh, PA and Julius Williams of Poughkeepsie, NY; five sisters, Sharanda Connor, Shanea Connor, Bessie Connor and Skyla Degroat all of Newburgh and Sharonda Connor of Albany, NY; paternal grandparent, Willie Connor, Sr of Medina, NY; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends. She was predeceased by paternal grandparent, Bessie Connor and maternal grandparents, Leroy Bailey and Carol Degroat.
Visitation will be Monday, June 23, 10 to 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 76 First St., Newburgh, NY.
Funeral Services begin at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Harry Brown, Officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery Middlehope, NY.

My deepest sympathy to your family. I had Shalonda in my Chorus and music class at New Windsor School. She was an enthusiaistic girl who had a sparkling personality and could really light up a room. My prayers are with you all.
