Clara Spencer Obituary

Walden, NY

Clara Gardner Spencer of Walden, NY, a longtime resident of the area, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at home. She was 94.

The daughter of the late Guy Leslie and Edna Gardner Bastian, she was born January 27, 1914 in Shelton, NE. She was the widow of Sydney Syril Spencer.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Walden, life member of Eastern Star and a member of the National Society of Daughters of American Revolution.

Survivors include her two daughters, Mary Ellen Thompson and her husband, Bill of Longview, TX, and Sidney Jean Spencer, at home; two sons, Dan Thurston Spencer and his wife, Eva of Greensboro, NC, and Gordon Leigh Spencer and his wife, MaryAlice of Walden, NY; grandchildren: Sharyn Thompson, David Thompson and his wife, Patti, Chris Spencer and his wife, Elke, Lon Spencer, Courtney, Casey and Conor Spencer, and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson, Brad Scott Thompson and brother, George Bastian.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Robert Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woman's Guild First Reformed Church, 70 Scofield St., Walden, NY.
