Mary Deis Obituary

Bloomingburg, NY

Mary Deis, a five year resident of Bloomingburg, died on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Campbell Hall Health Care Center. She was 75.

The daughter of the late Gerald and Elizabeth Cahill Fitzgerald, she was born on August 22, 1932 in County Westmeath in Ireland. Mary moved to America as a young girl and spent most of her lifetime in the Bronx.

A family statement reads, "She will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend".

Mary is survived by her husband, Frank at home; her three children: daughter, Kathryn Krauss and her husband, Michael and son, Michael, all of New Bern, NC; son, Walter Asta of Pleasantville, and his sons, Thomas, Walter and Christopher, all of Middletown, and daughter, Laura Brodala and her husband, Willie and their daughters, Stephanie, Melissa, and Rhiannon, all of Bloomingburg, and three great-grandchildren, Brandon Brodala, and Emily and Walter Asta.

Cremation will be private.

A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held this evening, Wednesday, June 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.

Mary's family requests memorial contributions in her name to be made to the American Cancer Society, 419 East Main Street, Middletown, NY 10940.
