Donald Hill Obituary

North Branch, NY

Donald R. Hill, Jr., 69, of North Branch, NY, a machinist at Cosmo Optics in Middletown, NY and a resident of the area since 1969, died June 22, 2008 at home.

The son of Donald Hill, Sr. and Helen Hunsinger Hill, he was born in Elmira, NY on May 9, 1939.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and playing tennis. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960.

Survivors include his loving wife, Violet Kautz Hill at home; two daughters, Cheryl Lachowitz and her husband, Scot of Concord, NC and Cathy Eschenberg and her husband, William of Callicoon, NY; one son, Donald Hill III of North Branch, NY; three sisters, Joan Pound and her husband, Joe of Lindey, NY, Patricia Denton Dalley of California and Marsha Gurney and her husband, William of Las Vegas, NV; his step-mother, Margaret Hill of California. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Donald Hill, Sr.; his mother, Helen Levenduski; his step-father, Joe Levenduski; two brothers, Douglas Hill and Ronald Laverne and by his brother-in-law, Fred Dalley.

Friends may call Friday, June 27 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY.

Services will be held June 27 at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Pastor Kit Robison officiating.

Burial will be in Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Liberty, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stratton VA Medical Center Patient Fund, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208 or the Alzheimers Foundation, 2 Jefferson Plaza Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

To the Hill Family and Larry Kautz:
I am sorry to hear of the passing of Don. I worked with him at Cosmo Optics in the early 1980's. The Cosmo crew back in 1980-1983 was an interesting crew and Don helped make my memories of that time memorable and special.
