Laura Morgan Obituary

White Plains, NY

Laura Frances Morgan, longtime resident of White Plains, NY, died Saturday, June 21, 2008. She was 92 years old.

Laura was born August 7, 1915 in Bronx, NY, daughter of the late Theodore H. Friend Jr. and Laura Henry Friend.

She graduated from Hunter College with a BS in Geology in 1937, where she was captain of the swim team.

She married her husband Ivor Morgan in 1942.

She was active with the First Baptist Church in White Plains and volunteered at the Baptist Home in the Bronx. She worked as a secretary for the Ridgeway Alliance Church in White Plains for 20 years retiring in 1984.

Her five children, John R. Morgan of North Andover, MA, Laura K. (Thomas) Traynor of Yorktown Heights, NY, Elizabeth E. Morgan of Flemington, NJ, Thomas F. (Denise) Morgan of Monroe, NY, and Jane L. (Craig) Cerone of Ridgefield, CT, survive her, as well as nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivor Morgan in 1998 and her brother, Theodore Friend III and sister, Edythe Friend.

Friends will be received at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue at South Broadway, White Plains, NY on today, June 25 from 5-8 p.m.

Funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Thursday, June 26 at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
