Ralph Riggs Obituary
Ralph P. Riggs of Middletown NY, died on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC. He was 83.
The son of the late Ralph and the late Helen Williams Riggs, he was born on August 15, 1924 in Sussex, NJ.
Ralph served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 709th Tank Battalion. He was a member of the American Legion Post 151, he was a past officer and 48-year member of Ontario Hose Co., and past officer of and member of the Middletown Veteran Firemen Assoc. He was also a member and past president of the Golden Age Seniors in Middletown and was a big Nascar fan.
A family statement reads: "There was never a better man. He will be dearly missed."
In addition to his loving wife of 59 years, Doris, at home, Ralph is survived by his three sons, Gary and his wife, Tammy of Fair Oaks, Ralph and his wife, Amy of Unionville, and David and his wife, Alicia of Circleville; one daughter, Cheryl Porada and her husband, Raymond of Greenville; a brother, Everett G. Riggs and his wife, Mary of Oneida, and nine grandchildren, Rebecca, Jennifer, Daniel, Gary Jr., Kimberly, Kalina, Jenna, Anthony, and Joshua and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Visitation hours are from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 29 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 30 at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at O.C. Veteran's Cemetery, Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
Memorial contributions in Ralph's name may be made to the American Legion Post 151, 185 Wawayanda Ave., Middletown, NY 10940.

Dear Doris and Family,
We remember Ralph as a friendly and nice neighbor when we lived next door at 13 Charles in 1962, 63 and 64.Have thought about both of you and your children frequently over the years.We are very saddened to learn of Ralph's passing but know he was a respected and well liked man.
