Phineas Graham Obituary

Formerly of Wurtsboro, NY

Phineas Wellington Graham, Sr., a retired telephone repairman for Con-Tel and a 30+ year resident of the area, died at his home in Bainbridge, GA, on Sunday, July 13, 2008. He was 74.

The son of the late William and Blanche Green Graham, he was born August 29, 1934 in Margaretville, NY.

Phineas proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Wurtsboro Fire Company, member and former captain of the Wurtsboro Fire Police, member of the Sullivan County Fire Police Association, Sullivan County Bassmasters Association, and a leader with the Boy Scouts of America.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Cooper Graham, at home; four sons, Phineas Graham, Jr., and his fiancée, Carolyn Braun of Staten Island, Bruce Graham and his wife, Cindy of Tallahassee, FL, Rodney Graham and his wife, Michele of Wurtsboro, and Dustin Graham and his wife, Christie of Wurtsboro; five brothers: Charles Graham of California, Willard Graham of Missouri, Wardall Graham of Texas, Warren Graham of Grahamsville, NY, and Danford Graham of Neversink, NY; 11 grandchildren: Phineas III, Tyler, Kevin, Lee-Ann, Lara-Lye, Jessica, Jennifer, Victoria, Amber, Beth, and Dustin, Jr.; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Phineas was predeceased by his parents, William and Blanche.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc., Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan St., in Wurtsboro.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
