Fred DeBella Obituary

Warwick, NY

Fred J. DeBella, a produce farmer and longtime resident of the area, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at Schervier Pavilion in Warwick. He was 90.

The son of the late Salvatore and Rose Puglise DeBella, he was born on August 5, 1917 in New York, NY.

Fred was a good-hearted man who always put his wife and daughters first. A caring neighbor and friend, he provided everyone he knew with healthy fruits and vegetables from the farm, DeBella Farms in Warwick, oftentimes by the truck load. Having worked hard to get where he was, he knew what it was like to struggle and was very thoughtful of those less fortunate than himself.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Jean Heater DeBella and his daughters, Rose Marie Kennybrook and Gina DeBella, all of Warwick. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Maygenia Maria MacDowall and her husband, Tim and his great grandchildren, Timothy Ryan, Meghan Rose and Matthew Thomas, all of Wake Forest, NC, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16 at the Lippincott Funeral Home, Inc., 92 Main St. in Chester, NY.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 17 at St. Columba R.C. Church, High Street in Chester. Burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery in Chester, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Drive, Staten Island, NY 10305 or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220.

Arrangements by Lippincott Funeral Home, Inc., Chester; 845-469-4134.
