Louis Filie Obituary
Louis A. Filie, 97, of Port Jervis, formerly of Northvale, NJ, died Monday, July 14, 2008.
Beloved husband of the late Mary (nee Savoia). Loving father and father-in-law of Robert and Linda Filie of Port Jervis. Cherished grandfather of Mark and his wife Marion and Marybeth and her husband Ken. Dear brother of Louise Fojtlin of Northvale, and the late John, Ida, and Selma.
A graduate of Closter High School, Mr. Filie was a semi-pro baseball player for 20 years and was inducted in the Bergen County Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame. In the 1930's he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps. and later worked as a stone mason for Bergen Blue Stone in Paramus, NJ.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's RC Church, Northvale with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.
Visiting hours are today from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale (201-767-3050).
Those who wish may make memorial donations to the American Lung Association at www.lungusa.org.
