Elizabeth Leghorn Obituary

Newburgh, NY

Elizabeth R. Leghorn, 96, of Newburgh, NY, a retired supervisor for NY Telephone Co. and a lifelong resident of the area, died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at home surrounded by her family.

The daughter of the late Samuel J. and Mary Bricklin Leghorn, Sr., she was born July 13, 1912 in Newburgh.

She was a member of the NY Telephone Co. Pioneers Club; St. Patrick's Church and a graduate of St. Patrick's School.

Survivors include nephews, George Leghorn of Town of Newburgh, Harold Porath of New Windsor and Samuel P. Leghorn of Florida; nieces, Betty Vondras of Town of Newburgh, Virginia Perrego of New Windsor, Mary Jane Carnwright of Town of Newburgh and Jean DeCicco of Richmond, TX. She was also survived by great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brothers, Harold Leghorn and Sam Leghorn and sisters, Helen Huber and Mary Porath.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 22 from 4-8 p.m. at the White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 N. Plank Rd. (Rt. 32), Newburgh.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake, Rt. 52, Newburgh with Monsignor John Budwick officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.

I remember Betty when I worked at the phone company in the fifties. She was a very pleasant lady.My sympathy goes out to her family.
