Edna Sterman Obituary

Middletown, NY

Edna Sterman of Middletown, NY, a retired Claims Examiner for the New York State Department of Labor, died July 19, 2008 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown Campus. She was 90 years old.

The daughter of the late Max and Sarah Marcus Weinstock, she was born May 17, 1918 in Manhattan, NY. Edna was the widow of Benjamin Waldman and Daniel Sterman.

Edna was the past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans Jacob Levy Post in the Bronx, NY. Edna was a former longtime resident of the Bronx.

Edna was a kind and loving person. She will be missed by her family and all that knew her.

Edna is survived by her sisters, Yetta Levitt of New York City and Bella Fina of Marina del Rey, CA, along with her daughter and her husband, Paula and Harvey Shames of Sugar Loaf, NY, and her grandchildren: Michael Shames of Girdera, Israel, Monica Kiselov of Bel Air, CA, Elise Gautamo of Seattle, WA, and Shannon Waldman of Tarzana, CA; along with her four great-grandchildren: Asaf, David, and Oz of Girdera, Israel and Rachel Kiselov of Bel Air, CA. Edna was predeceased by her son, Steven Waldman.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Park Cemetery, Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah, Paramus, NJ, with Rabbi Steven D. Ziskind. Entombment will follow the services.
