It was a pleasure to know Eileen these past months. She had a great spirit. I know that she has left a great impression in this world during her stay. I will always remember her. My prayers are with Eileen and her family.

Eileen, how honored I was to have worked with you for the past year. What a wonderful person you were and you will be sorely missed.

I first met Eileen at Sullivan County Community College, at a talk that the feminist writer Andrea Dworkin was giving. After the talk, Eileen came up from behind, laid a gentle hand on my shoulder and said, "You speak good words....don't stop." The next time I met her it was when she was hired at the Crawford Library, where I was working at the time. I saw myself in her, loved her voice, and listened when she spoke. I was honored when she brought me a favorite chair to reupholster, knowing it pleased her. And, among many other important things, she made me see sunflowers in a new way. She will not be soon forgotten.
