Dorothy Freeman Obituary

Warwick, NY

Dorothy J. Freeman, a lifelong resident of Warwick, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 24, 2008. She was 75 years old.

Born on December 5, 1932 in Warwick, she was the daughter of Seeley Cummins Freeman and Elizabeth Margaret Teasdale.

Before retiring, she was a Secretary with Country Chevy in Warwick. She formerly worked for 25 years as Secretary with W. F. Dayton 5 & 10 in Warwick. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and served as Sunday School treasurer, and sang in the choir.

A family statement reads: "Dorothy's church and her faith were the center of her life. She lived her Christian faith with a heart to care for her family, as well as others. Whether visiting, helping with rides, caring for those who needed someone to listen, she expressed her Christian love. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew her. The family would like to thank her doctors and staff at St. Anthony's Hospital who cared for Dorothy with such love and kindness."

She is survived by her brother, Elwood W. Freeman of Warwick; a niece, Elaine Freeman-Johnson and her husband, Donald of Pine Bush; a nephew, Elwood A. Freeman and his wife, Judie of Warwick; grand nieces, Stephanie Pierce and her husband, Chris of Bealeton, VA and Donna M. Freeman of Warwick; a grand nephew, Daniel A. Freeman of Warwick; her childhood friends, Rosemarie Masker and Muriel Quackenbush. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret I. Freeman.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 25, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Warwick Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy's life will take place at her church at a date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 5 Wisner Road, Warwick, NY 10990.

I remember Dot as such a lovely person and I always remember my mom (Catherine Decker) saying how hard they worked at the 5 & 10, but how much fun they had also. She would always talk about the good old days.
So now I hope you are all in Heaven talking about those "Good Old Days"

We love you "Aunt" Dot, from David and Dawn Williams Jr.

"Aunt" Dot,
We will miss you dearly, you were always there to love and listen and not judge......we will love you always. Even though you were not really our Aunt, for over 25 years, you always treated David Jr. (and then his wife and son)as if we have always been a part of your family.
