Eugene Scheuermann Obituary
Eugene "Hemp" Scheuermann, a lifelong resident of Warwick, passed away on July 25, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 79 years old.
Born on May 3, 1929 in Warwick, he was the son of John and Katherine Luft Scheuermann.
He was the husband of Joan (Smith) Scheuermann for 60 years.
Hemp was a retired Engineer with Lehigh & Hudson Railroad, Warwick and was a member of the United Transportation Union. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, a 55-year member of Raymond Hose Company, and a 30-year member of the Warwick Country Club.
A family statement reads: "Hemp, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was a kind and gentle individual who made everyone feel special. He was a great friend to many and a devoted community member. He loved his children first, as well as his golf and his Yankee's."
He is survived by his wife, Joan; his children: Larry Scheuermann and his wife, Pat of Warwick, Linda McMurray and her husband, Jim of Cary, NC, Lori Scheuermann and her companion, Lauren of Highland, NY, and Les Scheuermann and his wife, Jeanne of Hawley, PA; six grandchildren: Matt, Chris, Ben, Gene, Kevin and Shelly; three great-grandchildren: Grayson, Quinlan and Kayla; a brother, Harvey Scheuermann of Warwick; two sisters, Emily Card and Norma Bryant, both of Warwick.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 27, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Private cremation.

I was so shocked to read of Hemp's passing today in the Dispatch. I am truly saddened and will miss him greatly at the Pioneer. I always loved his sense of humor.
