Ervene Gulley Obituary

Bloomsburg, PA

Ervene F. Gulley, 65, of 1112 Lightstreet Rd., Bloomsburg, PA, passed away Friday, July 25, 2008 at her residence.

She was born March 24, 1943 in Thompson, PA, a daughter of the late Rexford T. and Helen E. Arthur Gulley.

She graduated from Susquehanna High School in 1961, Bucknell University in 1965 and completed her masters and Ph.D. at Lehigh University. She was a professor at Bloomsburg University and was chair of the English department the last several years. She sang in the choir and participated in the bell choir at the First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Bloomsburg Early Music Ensemble and a board member of the BTE. She enjoyed music, gardening and theater.

She is survived by her husband, Gerard Dullea, whom she married in 1976 and a sister, Marilyn and her husband, John Wagner of Suffern, NY.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 345 Market St., Bloomsburg, PA with Rev. Steve Curaton officiating. The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home, 435 Market St., Bloomsburg, PA. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Please omit flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the Gulley Scholarship at the Bloomsburg University Foundation or to an organization that serves the needs of animals.

We were so sorry to hear about Dr. Gulley. My daughter was fortunate to be in several classes taught by Dr. Gulley, and she just loved her. She was a wonderful lady, encouraging mentor, and enthusiastic sharer of knowledge. She will be sorely missed.
