George Berean Obituary

Newburgh, NY

George Berean of Newburgh, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 83.

Son of the late Henry and Florence Sharot Berean, he was born March 29, 1925. He married Gloria Thomas Berean on December 12, 1953.

"George had a kind and loving heart. We will all miss his great sense of humor and practical jokes. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends."

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. While serving he earned the WWII Victory Medal, American Service Medal, E.A.M.E. Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, United Nations, Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was also retired from Daley's Oil.

In addition to his loving wife of 55 years, Gloria, he is survived by his son, Richard Berean and his wife, Linda of Walden; daughters, Judy Clark of Newburgh and Sharon Scott and her husband, Hugh of Simi Valley, CA, and most importantly, Kimberly, Gabriel, Russell and Melony, his loving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A funeral service will take place at 7:45 p.m. in the funeral home.

Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.
