Mary Sherman Obituary

Middletown, NY

Mary M. Sherman of Middletown, the banquet hostess at Southwinds Retirement Home in Middletown and lifelong resident of the area, died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus, Middletown. She was 82.

The daughter of the late Floyd and Mary E. Carmen Truex, she was born on September 14, 1925 in Middletown, NY. She was the widow of George R. Sherman, Sr.

Mary's family would like to thank the staff of the Horton Medical CC Unit, especially her nurses, Christine Vigilio, Jaimee Thoelan and Charmaine Ruth, for taking such exceptional care of her in her last days. Their care and compassion will not be forgotten.

She is survived by her children, George R. Sherman, Jr. and his wife, Sara of Colesville, NJ, Thomas W. Sherman and his wife, Pauline of Middletown, Robert B. Sherman and his wife, Susan of the town of Greenville, Gregory A. Sherman and his wife, Marie of Cincinnati, OH, Mary E. Wiltshire and her husband, Ray of Charleston, SC, and Thomas T. Shoemaker and his wife, Angel of Middletown; her daughter-in-law, Candi Sherman of Greenville,; her son-in-law, Joel Norwood of Georgia; and her sister, Marjorie Sherman and her husband, Herman of Middletown; and her sister-in-law, Bea Truex of South Carolina. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; as well as her best friend for 70 years, Mary McGuire. She was predeceased by her daughter, Bonnie Norwood; her brother, Floyd Truex; and her sister, Shirley Yanic.

Visitation hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc., 72 W. Main St., in Middletown, NY.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Middletown, NY. Burial will be at Wallkill Cemetery in Phillipsburg, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. John's Lutheran Church or to a charity of one's choice.
