Ettore Cossa Obituary

Washingtonville, NY

Ettore H. Cossa of Washingtonville, an Oil Truck Driver for Sentinel Oil Co., entered into rest on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Arden Hill Campus in Goshen, NY. He was 93.

The son of Vincent and Angela (Schini) Cossa, he was born July 23, 1915 in the Bronx, NY.

He was a member of the New York City Auxiliary Police Department and retired as Captain after forty years of service, Teamster 456 in Elmsford and Blooming Grove Nutrition Center.

A family statement reads: "Ettore loved Duncan Donuts and going to Atlantic City."

He is survived by son, Vincent H. Cossa and his wife, Linda of Chester; daughter, Elaine Smith and her husband, Arthur of Washingtonville; son, Edward Cossa and his wife, Maureen of New Rochelle, NY; and son, John Cossa of Pelham Manor, NY; his grandchildren: Jeanette Robert and her husband, Brandon, Michele Cossa, Deborah Strobach and her husband, Kenneth, Elizabeth Cossa, Robert Smith, Stephanie Cossa, Christine Cossa, and Allison Cossa; great-grandchildren: Benjamin Robert and Autumn Strobach, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian McGill Cossa.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, from 1-3 and 6-9 p.m. at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, at St. Mary's Church in Washingtonville, NY. Burial will be in Long Island National Cemetery.

Dear Elaine, Vinny, John, Eddie & Families - Our deepest heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your dear Father. We go back many years, and I will always remember the fond memories of your Dad. He was truely amazing and you were all so lucky to have had him in your lives as long as you did. We are so sorry we live so far away and cannot attend his services, and just want everyone to know that we will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

Poppy, All the years that I knew you,no matter where life brought us I ALWAYS considered u my grandfather figure. I will always remember the good times we shared in A.C., Ur old apartment.
