Genevieve Costello Obituary

Tomkins Cove, NY

Genevieve D. "Gena" Costello of Tomkins Cove, NY, died August 7, 2008 after a brief illness. She was 88 years old.

Gena was born in Haverstraw, NY on July 21, 1920 and was as lifelong North Rockland resident and member of the Stony Point Ambulance Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, James T. Costello Jr. and his wife, Colleen, and Kevin Costello and his wife, Nancy; three grandchildren: Kevin Jr., Catherine Nalback and Thomas; nine great-grandchildren; three siblings: one brother, Emmett Griffin and two sisters, Joan Scheideler and Regina Pingitore.

She was predeceased by her husband, James T. Costello Sr.; two brothers, Vincent Griffin and F. Hollis Griffin, and her sister, Rosemary Zorn.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, at the Edward C. Finn Funeral Home, 43 E. Main St., Stony Point, NY (845-786-2400).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 11, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, with burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to the Stony Point Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 6 Lee Ave., Stony Point, NY 10980 or United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum La., New City, NY 10956.
