Loretta Thornton Obituary

Wawarsing, NY

Loretta F. K. Thornton of Wawarsing, a life long resident, and a former seamstress for Rosenstocks, Ellenville, died suddenly Friday, August 8, 2008 at her home. She was 76.

The daughter of Andrew and Josephine Krom, she was born October 3, 1931 in Ellenville. She was the widow of Thomas Thornton.

She was an Ulster County Girl Scout Leader for over 50 years and taught Sunday school at the Ellenville Reformed Church. Loretta was devoted to her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Dymond and husband, Richard of Wawarsing; two granddaughters, Jamie Brooks and Melissa Dymond; one great-granddaughter, Joyce Brooks; three brothers, Harry D. "Butch" Krom of Wawarsing, Andrew C. "Bob" Krom of Kerhonkson, and Charles F. "Corky" Krom of Hadley, NY; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Loucks Funeral Home, Inc., 79 N. Main St., Ellenville on Monday, August 11, from 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, at the funeral home. The Rev. Paul Ruter will officiate. Burial will be in Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.
