John DeFrancisco Obituary

Warwick, NY

John J. DeFrancisco of Warwick, a retired produce manager for Grand Union having worked for 38 years with the company, died on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at his home. He was 78.

The son of the late Joseph and Mary Hughes DeFrancisco, he was born on January 22, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served during the Korean War.

He was a 50-year member of the Raymond Hose Company in Warwick. He coached football and was an organizer of the Warwick Pee Wee Football League. He was a coach and umpire in the Warwick Little League. John was an avid fan of the Giants, Yankees and Rangers.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Shirley Ferdon DeFrancisco at home; son, John DeFrancisco and wife, Debra of Warwick; daughter, Kathleen DeFrancisco of Monroe; brother, Alexander DeFrancisco and wife, Virginia of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Lisa and Lex; great granddaughter, Kaylin; sister-in-laws, Barbara Couzzi of Warwick, Beulah Ferdon of Warwick, Frances Vadala of Chester and Sonja DeFrancisco of New Jersey. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Joseph DeFrancisco; brother, Richard DeFrancisco; sister-in-laws, Ethel Ferdon and Sue Royce and brother-in-laws, Emerson Ferdon, Jr., Franklin Ferdon and Michael Vadala.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 5 at 11 a.m. in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Warwick Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
