Edythe Martin Obituary

Pine Bush, NY

Edythe E. Martin, a 20-year resident of the area, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh on Sunday, August 31, 2008. She was 79.

The daughter of the late Marshall Kinckerbocker and Shirley Craft Knickerbocker, she was born on September 10, 1928 in Walton, NY.

Survivors include her loving step children, Carol Gihr of Pine Bush, Ann Dowd and Dan Martin of Arizona; her loving sister-in-law, Jean Knickerbocker of Roscoe and her daughter, Kim of New Mexico, and several step grandchildren, devoted friend and caretaker Martha Angell, and all of Edythe's good friends especially the "gang" at McDonald's in Pine Bush. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Edythe was predeceased by her husband, John J. Martin; her brothers, LaVerne and Carleton Knickerbocker; her sister, Bette Osborne, and step son, Edward Martin.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday September 3 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush. Cremation was at Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh. Burial will be at the privacy and convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or to Make A Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley, The Wish House, 832 South Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 10591-6602.
