Jean Findlay Obituary

Smallwood, NY

Jean J. Findlay of Smallwood, a retired school bus driver for the Monticello Central Schools, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 in Cooperstown at the age of 85.

The daughter of the late Walter Cummings and Flora Hunter Cummings, she was born May 20, 1923 in Trout Creek. She was the widow of Al Findlay, Sr.

She is survived by a son, Al Findlay, Jr. & his wife, Lorraine of Schuyler Lake; a daughter, Bess Etkin of Rock Hill and a son-in-law, Phil Etkin of Roscoe; seven grandchildren: Ron, Christie, Bryan, Andrew, Evan, Josh & Matthew; one great-grandchild, Allie.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, John Findlay, and a brother, Walter "Jack" Cummings.

Interment of her ashes will be held privately at the St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.

To the Findlay Family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. I remember the love and care Mrs. Findlay had for her late son John and how precious that was. Even though I worked for Sullivan ARC, that was a special family. I will always keep you in my thoughts.
