Lydia Clarkson Obituary

Monroe, NY

Lydia T. Clarkson, a 66-year area resident, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY. She was 90.

The daughter of the late Jacob Swan and Mary Hudaronuk Swan, she was born on December 25, 1917 in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Paul Clarkson.

Lydia was a retired secretary for Co Hu and Company in New York, NY. She was an opera singer for off-Broadway shows and plays in New York, NY and the former owner of Kozy Korner Bed and Breakfast in Monroe.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary A. Shmaefsky of Bailey, CO, and three grandchildren: Amy, Kevin and Peter.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 8, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe, NY.

Graveside services will follow in St. Vladimir's Cemetery in Jackson, New Jersey.

Lydia was one of my favorite passengers when I was driving bus in Monroe. There was never a dull moment with her aboard. Greatly appreciated and sadly missed. I thought of her often over the years. My sympathies to the family.
