Odell Whitaker, Jr. was called home on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. He was 44 years old. Odell was a lifelong resident of Ellenville NY.

Born on June 16, 1964 in Ellenville NY, he is the son of the late Odell Whitaker Sr. and Lillie Mae Whitaker. He is a graduate of Ellenville High School.

He is survived by his lifelong companion, Barbara Alloway of Ellenville; his sisters: Mae Holland, Bessie Mae Norman, and Jeanette Whitaker, all of Monticello, and Flora Mae Caldwell of Atlanta, GA; his brothers: Lewis Whitaker of Monticello, and Thomas Whitaker and Frank Lee Peterson of Ellenville. Odell Jr. also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers: Edward Whitaker Sr. and Glen Whitaker, and a sister, Patricia Whitaker.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the New Testament Church of Jesus Christ, 39 Clinton Ave., in Ellenville. His funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. at the church with The Rev. Raymond Younger officiating. Burial will follow in the Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville.
